The Piedmont Region
30b - differentiate the five geographic regions of Georgia including the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ridge and Valley, Appalachian Plateau, Piedmont and Coastal Plain
The Piedmont region contains Georgia's most populated cities and contains half of Georgia's population. Atlanta is the capital of Georgia, and it is also part of the Piedmont region. The Piedmont's most important component is industry, because of the large population. The soil is composed of red clay and most trees are Pine trees or evergreens. This region is famous for their delicious peaches. An interesting fact about the Piedmont is that it contains no aquifers. This is because of the Appalachian Mountains blocking clouds. The run-off flows throughout Georgia providing ground water.
