30b - differentiate the five geographic regions of Georgia including the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ridge and Valley, Appalachian Plateau, Piedmont and Coastal Plain
This is the largest region of Georgia. It is the only region below the Fall Line, and was once covered by the Atlantic Ocean. The fall line runs through Macon, Augusta, and Columbus. This region is divided into two parts, the Inner Coastal Plain and Outer Coastal Plain. This region is famous for their peanuts and Vidalia Onions. The Coastal Plain contains a lot of waterfalls and rapids. The Outer Coastal Plain does not have drained soil, causing the farmland to be infertile. This segment of the Coastal Plain contains a lot of marshland, and the Okefenokee swamp is located in this region.
