Active and Passive Voice
Active Voice is the form that you are more familiar with. The object receives the action of the verb in active voice.(Subject is verb the Direct Object). Passive Voice is the less common Voice type. Passive Voice occurs when the verb is directed toward the direct object.(Direct Object was verb by Subject). Active voice sentences are written like the following sentence,"Ram is reading his notes." A passive voice sentence would be rewritten as,
"The notes were read by Ram." They can be confusing sometimes, but doing the practice and the quiz will help.
Examples:
Active:
Red represents the subject and the blue represents the action.
Passive:
The orange represents the object and blue represents the action.
Now compare the Active and Passive Voice sentences. How are they different?
Practice:
Determine if the following are passive or active voice sentences:

- Ex 1: Juan ate the ice-cream.
- Ex 2: The book was read by Bill.
- Ex 3: The computer was used by Jon.
- Ex 4: The door was closed by the cat.
- Ex 5: Dole remodeled the kitchen.
- Ex 6: The cake was cooked by Margret
- Ex 7: Jim slapped the boy.
- Ex 8: Quintin completed the homework.
- Ex 9: Bob cut the cheese.
- Ex 10: The cheese was cut by Bob.
