Irony
Irony is the use of words to signify the opposite meaning. There are different types of irony that can be difficult to remember sometimes, so let's do a few examples.
There are three types:
Situation Irony: This occurs when there is a change from what is expected to happen, and what actually happens.
Ex: The fire station burned down.
Ex: The police station was robbed.
-These are examples because they are not what most expect to happen.
Verbal Irony: This is the use of words to make something different from what the person says. This can also be called, sarcasm.
Ex: Soft as a brick
Ex: As pleasant as a surgery.
